Order Wednesday, take delivery Thursday, and work Thursday afternoon and Friday morning. Lynn is 13.7 miles from our Dispatch Office in Dorchester, so delivery is $100 flat per load to all five Lynn ZIPs. Two yards of mulch and one yard of stone dust covers most Lynn back lots with a day to spare.
What can you actually finish in two days?
Plenty, if you pick jobs that pay off per hour and skip the ones that need a month. Three transform a yard fastest: a mown and edged lawn, fresh mulch in the beds, and a path that is no longer bare dirt.
| Job | Time | Material | Payoff by Friday |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mow, trim, edge beds | 2–3 hours | None | Highest — costs nothing |
| Mulch refresh, 2 inches | 2 hours per yard | Mulch, $58/yd | Very high |
| Stone dust path | 2 hours | #10 Stone Dust, $69/yd | High |
What should you order on Wednesday?
Measure first, order once. cubic yards = (square feet × depth in inches) ÷ 324. Three hundred square feet of existing beds at a 2-inch refresh is 1.85 yards, so order 2. A 3-foot path running 20 feet is 60 square feet; at 2 inches that is 0.37 yards, and with no minimum order one yard covers it with material spare.
Here is the part that saves real money. Our fee is charged per load — per dump-truck trip — and loads are counted per line item. Two yards of Black Mulch plus two of Red Cedar is two trips and $200. Four yards of one colour is one trip and $100. Mulch caps at 10 yards per load; stone, sand and soil cap at 6.
Where does the truck drop it in Lynn?
Curbside is the default, and in Lynn that deserves thought. The dense blocks through East Lynn are triple-decker lots with narrow frontage and full on-street parking — hold a spot Thursday morning or the pile lands further from the beds than you want. Larger properties in the Diamond District or up toward Lynn Woods usually have a driveway a truck can back into, though on-property drops require a signed waiver. Lay a tarp if the pile lands on asphalt; dark mulch stains hot blacktop.
What do you do Thursday?
- Mow one notch shorter than usual, but do not scalp — Lynn's salt air and July sun punish a shaved lawn.
- String-trim fence lines and around the AC pad. People register this without knowing why.
- Cut a four-inch trench edge on the front beds. Highest-value hour of the two days.
- Take delivery; confirm the drop spot before the driver tips.
What goes down Friday morning?
- Spread mulch 2 inches on established beds, not 4. Deep mulch in a hot week bakes roots and sheds water.
- Keep it off stems, and pull it back from trunks into a flat ring. No volcanoes.
- Rake the stone dust level, wet it, walk it in. It firms up within hours.
- Sweep the walk last, then hose everything down. Wet mulch reads darker for a day, which is the day that counts.
What should you skip?
Seeding a lawn in early July is money into the ground — soil is too warm and seedlings will not survive a heat stretch. The eastern Massachusetts window is mid-August into September; the UMass Extension landscape program covers timing. Skip planting trees too, and do not start a patio base you cannot finish.
Lynn delivery questions
Can I get next-day delivery before the Fourth?
Usually, but a holiday week is the exception. Weekend slots fill first, and the Thursday before a Friday holiday is the busiest slot of the month. Order Wednesday morning.
Is delivery really $100 to every part of Lynn?
Yes. All five Lynn ZIPs sit inside 30 driving miles of the yard, so the flat rate applies citywide. It multiplies only if your order needs a second trip.
How long does a yard of mulch take to spread?
About two hours with a wheelbarrow and one person, less with two people and a tarp. Two yards is an afternoon.
Order from the full material catalogue or go straight to bed refresh materials. Black Mulch is $58 a yard, #10 Stone Dust is $69. Check the rate on our Lynn page or text (617) 286-2740.
