Stone dust is fine granite screenings — the smallest crushed product we carry — and it compacts into a firm, almost pavement-like surface. Unlike washed decorative stone, it keeps its fines on purpose so it locks tight under whatever sits on it.
Where stone dust earns its keep
- Setting beds for pavers, patio stones, and steppers
- Walkway bases, typically compacted 3–4" deep
- Leveling pads under sheds, hot tubs, and steps
Lay it in thin lifts, dampen lightly, and compact each pass for the firmest result — a patio set in spring can have its base placed now, since winter delivery is no problem. A dusty film on arrival is normal for this product; the fines are the whole point, and rain rinses the surface clean. Order #10 stone dust by the cubic yard; up to 6 yards ride per truckload.
