FAQ

Should I use straight salt or a salt-sand mix?

Use straight rock salt when the goal is bare pavement, and a salt-sand mix when traction matters as much as melting. Salt melts ice; sand grips it. Plenty of Boston-area properties keep one of each on hand — salt for the paved walks, mix for everything else.

Which blend for which job

Straight salt Full melt on paved driveways and walkways
50/50 mix Half salt, half sand — melting power plus instant grip
20/80 mix Traction-first for gravel drives, steep grades, and deep cold

Mixes also stretch your salt further on gravel surfaces, where a full melt was never the goal. Order the 50/50 salt-sand mix or the 20/80 salt-sand mix by the cubic yard, delivered Monday–Saturday all winter — or call or text (617) 645-0987 if you're unsure which fits your property.
