FAQ

Is pine bark mulch good for blueberries and azaleas?

Yes — pine bark is the mulch to use around blueberries, azaleas, and rhododendrons, because it is naturally acidic as it breaks down. Acid-loving shrubs prefer exactly the conditions decomposing pine bark encourages, and its chunky texture is the longest-lasting mulch we carry at 12+ months.

How to apply it

  • Spread 2–3 inches over the root zone, kept a few inches off the stems
  • Refresh yearly — usually a 1–2 inch top-up as the old layer breaks down
  • The chunky nubs also hold well on slopes, another spot pine bark earns its keep

One cubic yard covers about 162 sq ft at 2 inches. Order Pine Bark Mulch by the yard — up to 10 yards per load — and size the beds with the material calculator.
