FAQ

How much pea stone for a 10x10 patio?

One cubic yard of pea stone covers a 10x10 patio. The math: 100 sq ft × 2 to 3 inches ÷ 324 = 0.6–0.9 cubic yards, and our 1-yard minimum rounds you up with a bit to spare for low spots and settling.

Getting the depth right

  • 2 inches — firm underfoot, best over a compacted base
  • 3 inches — fuller look, slightly softer to walk on
  • Edging — pea stone is rounded, so contain all four sides

Pea stone's smooth ⅜" pieces are comfortable barefoot, which is why it's the classic choice for casual patios and seating areas. It compacts very little once raked level, so a yard now still reads as a yard next spring. See Pea Stone (Riverbed ⅜") and double-check odd shapes with the material calculator.
