A full strip-and-regrade renovation takes 6–12 cubic yards of loam per 1,000 sq ft — that is a fresh 2–4 inch bed for new seed. The spread is the depth decision: 2 inches over decent existing soil, 4 inches where you are burying rubble or grading out lumps. Formula: sq ft x depth in inches ÷ 324.
Renovation vs. refresh, per 1,000 sq ft
| Topdress only (1/4–1/2 inch) | 1–1.5 cubic yards |
| New 2-inch seed bed | ~6 cubic yards |
| Full 4-inch regrade | ~12 cubic yards (2 truckloads) |
Loam ships 6 yards per load, so a 4-inch renovation on 1,000 sq ft is a two-truck day — August ordering lines you up for September seeding. Compare screened loam and Super Loam, and run your lawn through the material calculator.
