FAQ

How much loam do I need for a 20x20 lawn patch?

Five cubic yards — a 20×20 patch is 400 sq ft, and at the standard 4-inch depth for new lawn areas, 400 × 4 ÷ 324 = 4.9, which rounds up to 5. That still fits in a single truckload, since loam ships up to 6 cubic yards per load. For weight planning, loam runs about 2,100 lbs per yard, so this patch is roughly five tons of soil — order it dumped close to the work.

Same patch, other depths

2 inches (thin build-up) 2.5 yards
3 inches 4 yards
4 inches (new lawn standard) 5 yards
6 inches (full rebuild) 7.5 yards — two loads

Order screened loam, and double-check your own dimensions with the material calculator before checkout.
