Hardwick is four settlements rather than one: Hardwick center on its common, Gilbertville and Wheelwright down on the Ware River, and Old Furnace in between. The Ware River drops through the eastern side of town and drove the textile and paper mills at Gilbertville and Wheelwright until they shut in the 1930s, leaving dense mill-village streets inside an otherwise wide-open forty-one square miles. The Ware-Hardwick covered bridge still spans the river at Gilbertville, and Routes 32 and 32A are the only real through roads. West of town the land runs into the Quabbin watershed, where work near the water is watched closely and what goes on the ground matters. The rest is hill farm country — glacial till, ledge close to the surface, and the Hardwick Fair on the common every August, held since 1762. Ottr Landscape Supply delivers across all of it, whether you're resurfacing a long farm drive off Route 32A, rebuilding a mill-house yard in Gilbertville, or setting drainage stone on a hill lot toward Wheelwright.
Same-day and next-day dump truck loads of mulch, gravel, screened loam, and decorative stone — no minimum order required, and we know the hill roads off Route 32A and the narrow mill streets in Gilbertville each need the approach worked out before the truck leaves Dorchester. Delivery to Hardwick runs about $272–$304 depending on which end of town you're in — $100 covers the first 30 miles from our Dispatch Office, then $4 per mile. We also serve neighboring Barre, New Braintree, and Petersham on the same routes. For gravel and crushed stone specifically, see our Hardwick gravel supplier page. When you need dependable Hardwick landscape supply, Ottr is the trusted name for bulk materials delivered right to your driveway or job site.
