Land here is wooded and hilly, from about 500 feet up to 1,282 at Pratt Hill, with Silver Lake, Lake Ellis, and Lake Rohunta inside the town lines and the Bearsden conservation area holding a large block on the south side. Route 2 carries the east-west traffic and Route 32 runs north-south through the center; when the Route 2 bypass pulled traffic off Main Street the downtown thinned out, and the last few years have been about filling it back in.
